Popular supermarkets across Ireland have confirmed that due to ‘unfavourable weather,’ they have been left with short supplies of household favourites.
If you have been wondering why there are very few fruit and veg options on the shelves at the moment, it is reportedly down to bad weather conditions in Morrocco and Spain.
Tesco Ireland told RTE News that "due to bad weather in seasonal supply from Morocco and Spain, the growing and harvesting schedules of some produce have been impacted".

As a result, of this, there are “temporary availability issues of tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and some salad products”.
Lidl confirmed that it is also experiencing availability issues with its supply of fruit and vegetables but hopes to have full availability in the coming days.
Another supermarket in Ireland affected by the adverse weather is SuperValu, which also said it is in talks with its suppliers in order to guarantee a normal supply of strawberries, raspberries, peppers, and tomatoes resumes.
A spokesperson from Supervalu confirmed that the issues are being caused by ‘unfavourable weather conditions in Europe and North Africa in recent months,’ which have led to a drop in agricultural production levels.
