Chelsea ace Hakim Ziyech appears to have failed to secure a deadline day exit from the club, despite an agreement to join PSG on loan for the rest of the season. The winger has long been touted with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Todd Boehly granting that wish this month.
The Morocco international has struggled to fit into the side since signing under Frank Lampard from Ajax, though bright sparks at the World Cup and since the end of the tournament have shown his ability. With some of those performances shining through with the Blues, Graham Potter has praised the forward.
"We know his qualities and we like him as a player," the head coach said on Ziyech. "At Chelsea there are always good players that aren't in the starting XI. [I am] Delighted for him to get the game time and help [Morocco]. I kept in touch with him throughout the World Cup."

However that recent form didn't appear to be enough to be in the plans for the club over the coming season as the new owners look to create their ideal squad. A late move to PSG appeared to be on the cards, with some reports even claiming that Ziyech was willing to help the deal financially.
While everything seemed ready for the move to go through, it seemingly collapsed late in the day as CBS Sports reports that the Blues submitted documents too late. L'Equipe, via Sports Witness, also claims that there was a computer issue with the LFP (France's football governing body).
There will be an appeal process for the forward with the possibility of a move still going through, however the chances of that ruling in favour of a switch appear very slim.
