For football fans, following private jets across FlightRadar24 is not uncommon. Eagle-eyed supporters do their due diligence to follow the potential movements of prospective players before a deal has been announced, which brings about some wild transfer rumours.
The lengths at which hopeful Sherlock Holmes' go to in order to learn a player's whereabouts is constantly expanding, and watching planes go across the planet to their next destination is always a small clue as to how close a medical might be.
In the latest instance, though, the emergence of Frenkie de Jong preparing to board a plane raised the alerts of fans. The Barcelona midfielder has been amid intense transfer speculation for most of the window. Despite all parties recently remaining coy on his future as all went a bit quiet, his destination caused an outburst on social media, though.

In a video that emerged online, De Jong was arriving to board a private plane heading for London, subsequently spiking the interest of not only Chelsea fans but also Manchester United and Liverpool too. All three clubs have been interested in the player, following his progress carefully this summer.
United made the first move, having a bid go in that was thought to be enough to prize the 25-year-old away from the Nou Camp before all went quiet and the extent of Barcelona's financial turmoil was revealed. The situation was then extremely different, and Chelsea moved fast to go above Erik ten Hag in the pecking order. With £17million of deferred wages on the table, a push for a wage cut and a determination to remain in Spain, De Jong looked set to stay at the Catalan club.
His decision to get a flight to London caught many off guard with the circumstances still being believed that no transfer would happen this summer unless Barcelona wanted to sell him or he started to push for a move. Unfortunately for Chelsea fans, nothing has seemingly changed.
De Jong's plan was for a holiday and celebration than for transfer business. ESPN's Samuel Marsden tweeted: "Barca players have a couple of days off, and Frenkie de Jong is going to London. Not transfer related. Memphis Depay is also heading to London with him. Still, the most likely scenario is De Jong stays at Barça. Salary adjustment still not an option."
The reason for the journey, which would still interest fans due to Depay's own transfer speculation this summer, has also been explained. Spanish outlet Actualite tweeted: "Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay are travelling to England for Donny van de Beek's wedding."
