it was a star studded event packed with celebrity performances but many were left wondering why Sir Elton John didn't perform live at the Platinum Jubilee Pageant.
While the likes of Ed Sheeran and Diana Ross were there in person, Sir Elton had to pre-record because he is currently on a European tour. He was in Switzerland on Wednesday and is in Denmark and the Netherlands this week as part of his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour, Birmingham Live reports.
A huge line-up from the worlds of music, comedy, film and arts worlds payed tribute to The Queen at Saturday night's event. The pageant marked a major part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations this weekend, airing on BBC One, ITV and Sky, along with live coverage on BBC iPlayer
During the show, Queen featuring Adam Lambert performed along with Diana Ross, Duran Duran, Craig David, Eurovision singer Sam Ryder, Ella Eyre, Elbow, Alicia Keys, Hans Zimmer, Mabel, Jax Jones, Celeste, Andrea Bocelli, Sigala and Nile Rodgers.
Sir Elton’s ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour has faced multiple postponements since kicking off in 2018, due to the Covid pandemic as well as the singer’s hip injury. The tour is the subject of a Disney+ documentary.
