Men have a peculiar relationship with old cables. A phone changes ports, a printer disappears, a DVD player moves to the basement, and somehow its cable remains in a drawer for another decade. The behavior looks irrational until you examine what that cable represents. It costs almost nothing to keep, replacing it later feels annoying, and there is always a faint possibility that some forgotten gadget will need exactly that connector. That combination turns a $6 piece of wire into a surprisingly difficult household decision.
There is also a bigger issue hiding inside the joke. Not every old cable belongs in the trash, but keeping every mystery cord forever creates clutter, wastes storage space, and makes the cable you actually need harder to find.
