Easter Sunday brings with it a new Agatha Christie murder-mystery for viewers to enjoy on ITV. Three-parter Why Didn’t They Ask Evans is based on the 1934 novel of the same name.
The new series is directed by House MD star Hugh Laurie and boasts an all-star cast. The cast is led by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 star Will Poulter and Lucy Boynton, who viewers will no doubt recognise for her roles in Bohemian Rhapsody, Endeavour and The Ipcress File.
Joining Poulter and Boynton in this new retelling is Hollywood actors Jim Broadbent and Emma Thompson. They play aristocrats Lord and Lady Marcham, who are the parents of Boynton’s character.

What is the plot of Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?
Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? follows the adventures of two childhood friends. Ex-naval officer Bobby Jones and socialite Lady Frances 'Frankie' Derwent turn their hands at becoming amateur sleuths in the series.
Bobby stumbles across a man who appears to have fallen from a Welsh cliff. Just before dying, the man utters the titular question.
Bobby and Frankie endeavour to get to the bottom of exactly what happened to the stranger. When their investigation takes them to a fancy country house in Hampshire, the pair find themselves in more trouble than they probably bargained for.
Where was Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? filmed?
The series was mainly in Surrey, in the villages of Shere and Albury, between June and August 2021. Scenes were also filmed at Three Cliffs Bay in Swansea.
How can you watch Why Didn’t They Ask Evans?
Why Didn't You Ask Evans? originally aired in the UK as a BritBox exclusive in April 2022. The series will get its network release on Easter Sunday (Sunday, April 9) at 9pm on ITV1.
Following the first episode’s release, the remaining two episodes will air on subsequent nights on Monday, April 10 and Tuesday, April 11 at the same time. All episodes are currently available to watch on ITVX.
