It has been eight years since she stepped away from Hollywood.
However the 49-year-old movie star, known for starring in films like Charlie’s Angels and My Sister’s Keeper, suggested she would be returning to the silver screen for an upcoming movie alongside Jamie Foxx.
Confirming the exciting news, Foxx revealed he had actually recorded a call with Diaz in which she discussed her imminent return to acting.
The duo, who have worked together before, will be starring in a Netflix comedy film titled Back in Action - a new film by the director of Horrible Bosses, Seth Gordon.
This is the first time Diaz will return to acting after an eight-year hiatus.

Her last film was in 2014 when she starred in an adaptation of Annie.
Although she only confirmed her retirement in 2018, the actor seemed to have taken a step back from her work a little earlier.
Diaz would later explain she took a break from acting to focus on her personal life.
In 2019, she also welcomed a daughter via surrogate with her husband Benji Madden and she has been busy spending time with her family.
Speaking about her decision to retire from acting, she has also previously admitted she didn’t feel like she was taking care of herself.
However, she told Gwyneth Paltrow in 2020 that she was thrilled to be “starting over”.
She said at the time: “I think you just build a life when you’re in your 20s and 30s, and then into your 40s, as you know, it’s a completely different thing...
“But here I am. I’m in my 40s, (and) I’m completely starting over.”
Diaz added: “I just decided that I wanted different things out of my life.
“I’d gone so hard for so long, working and making films, and it’s such a grind. I didn’t really make any space for my personal life. And then I decided to stop making movies and really focus on my personal life, my personal relationships with my family, with my friends.”
What made Cameron Diaz return to acting?
Diaz is yet to officially respond to the news of her “un-retirement”.
However in the recording shared by Foxx, The Holiday star admitted she was “anxious” but “excited”.
“I’m so anxious right now. I’m like pacing the room,” Diaz told Foxx.
Luckily, her friend had Tom Brady on the phone to help Diaz with some tips about “unretiring.”
“I was talking to Jamie and he said you need a few tips on how to un-retire,” said Brady. “I’m relatively successful at un-retiring.”
Diaz then confessed: “Honestly, exactly what I needed.”
