Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have been playing some of their best basketball entering the final stretch of the WNBA season, but such work has been unfortunately overshadowed by toxic narratives and discourse off the court.
Clark, one of the naturally outspoken leaders of the team, took the opportunity to clap back against critics of Fever coach Stephanie White after Indiana’s 106-92 win over the Liberty on Tuesday night. Following the Fever-Sky game earlier this week in which Sophie Cunningham was on the receiving end of a hard foul by DiJonai Carrington, White received backlash on social media for her initial reaction to the play. A fan’s video showed her walking from the sidelines straight to the refs on the floor without checking in on Cunningham, who was visibly upset about the foul.
