Why Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest is not live on TV in UK

Nottingham Forest, rejuvenated and inspired off the back of a victory at the City Ground over Liverpool that will live long in memory, make the journey south to the Emirates where they will face an Arsenal side whose confidence was reflected in their performances until recently, but now find themselves vulnerable after two disappointing results in succession.

If you aren't one of the lucky 60,000 in attendance at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon then you would usually turn to Sky or BT (or even Amazon Prime Video) for their extensive coverage, however today that isn't possible.

This is mainly down to the European UEFA competitions and their scheduling. Liverpool were initially granted the 14:00pm (BST) slot on Sunday afternoon, but due to playing their final Champions League game on Tuesday, a decisive match at Anfield against high-flying Napoli which in theory determines the winners of Group A, Liverpool had to instead face Leeds United on Saturday night, a fixture they lost 2-1 in the dying seconds.

However Sky were only afforded three of the four possible slots for this weekend's action with BT showing the early Saturday kick-off between Leicester and Manchester City. Sky had their usual 17:30 (BST) slot of Fulham versus Everton and then are showing their headline game between Manchester United and West Ham United at 16:30 (BST) on Sunday afternoon, meaning there is no room for Arsenal versus Forest.

Arsenal, like West Ham and Manchester United, can only play on Sundays due to their Europa League commitments on Thursday evenings. Most recently this fixture saw Arsenal fall to a 2-0 defeat away to PSV Eindhoven, meaning Arteta's side will be keen to make amends back on home turf.

Instead now showing on Sky Sports' Main Event channel at 14:00pm (BST) is the ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup match between India and South Africa broadcasted between 10.30am and 3pm (BST).

It will still be possible to keep up with match however with Radio commentary of the fixture available through BBC Radio 5 Live as well as live updates from our Forest reporter Sarah Clapson, who will also provide extensive coverage post-match.

Highlights will of course be shown on BBC's Match of the Day 2 tonight at 22:30 (BST) on BBC One as well as being accessible through Forest's YouTube channel.
