Why Arsenal vs Leeds United is not on TV - Premier League blackout rule explained

Arsenal continue their Premier League title challenge today with Leeds United visiting the Emirates Stadium following the international break.

The Gunners hold an eight point lead over Manchester City, with the title race about to enter the final stretch with a tough set of fixtures. Arsenal are yet to travel to the Etihad Stadium to face City, with that match coming on April 26 after games against Leeds, Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton.

However, Leeds are up first and they will hope that they can do better than recent trips to North London, having lost on both visits since their return to the top flight in 2020. They have not beaten the Gunners for 20 years and in the midst of a relegation battle it would be a huge win for the Whites.

New boss Javi Gracia has helped Leeds to two wins taking over, with their last match before the international break being a 2-4 win against Wolves. However, the Premier League leaders will be a tougher test and are widely expected to keep up their good run of six successive league wins.

Mikel Arteta's side will be without colossal centre-back William Saliba against Leeds. The Frenchman will miss the clash in north London after sustaining a back injury in the Europa League exit to Sporting CP.

Speaking to the media on Friday, Arteta said: "We are trying to manage him in the best possible way. Unfortunately he’s not gonna be fit for this game and we’re trying and he’s trying to do everything to feel better and get back training. But not yet."

The Gunners will also be sweating on the fitness of Thomas Partey after he missed Ghana's game with Angola as a precaution. The midfielder was pictured in training towards the end of the week, as was Scotland international Kieran Tierney.

Is Arsenal vs Leeds on TV?

It is a big match but, unfortunately for Gunners fans, the match will not be broadcast live on TV in the UK. This is due to the 3pm television blackout for domestic matches on Saturday afternoons.

Arsenal's match was not picked for live broadcast this weekend, with BT Sport opting to show Manchester City vs Liverpool on Saturday (12:30pm) and Sky Sports screening Chelsea vs Aston Villa the same day (5:30pm). Sunday's matches between West Ham and Southampton (2pm) and Newcastle vs Manchester United (4:30pm) are both on Sky Sports.
