Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has opened up on his failed move to Arsenal in 2019, claiming the Gunners opted for fellow Ivory Coast international Nicolas Pepe over him that summer. Then manager Unai Emery spent £72million in landing Pepe, who has struggled since joining the club.
The 27-year-old has yet to live up to the transfer fee paid by the north London outfit, often making appearances from the bench behind Bukayo Saka in the first-team. The winger is yet to make an appearance this season, with reports claiming that an exit could be on the cards while the window is still open.
Despite those links, Mikel Arteta has claimed that all his players have a fresh start this campaign: "The message is: this is a different season and everybody has a clean start. Show us what you can do on the pitch, how you're going to behave with your team-mates, are you going to make the car faster - yes or no?
