The European Union is facing a fresh dispute over its environmental policy after a group of campaign organisations challenged plans to revise the bloc’s main water protection rules.
The groups have taken their concerns to the European Ombudsman, arguing that the European Commission is moving too quickly to overhaul key water legislation without first gathering enough evidence or carrying out adequate consultation.
