Why Ange Postecoglou's Celtic style is wrong Everton fit as Hoops boss urged to steer clear of Toffees gig

Former Scotland and Chelsea star Pat Nevin has urged Ange Postecoglou to turn down any approach from Everton should Frank Lampard be dismissed from the Goodison Park hot seat.

The Celtic boss has been widely linked with an English Premier League role after masterminding the Hoops to the Scottish Premiership title last season and has the Parkhead club nine points clear at the league summit heading into the World Cup break. Everton, meanwhile, have only won one of their last eight games and lie one point off the bottom three with pressure mounting on Lampard. The two sides play each other in the Sydney Super Cup next week, which could give Goodison chiefs a close up look at a potential successor.

Nevin believes Postecoglou is destined to manage in England's top-flight one day but insists the Toffees current squad wouldn't be suited to 'Angeball'. He told Grosvenor Sport : "One day Ange Postecoglou will get a chance at the top level in England because he brings something extra special and really unusual. You watch Celtic games under him with a big cheesy grin on your face because they're so positive and they'll run until they fall down.

"The problem is that if they fall down after 70 minutes then they get battered as we've found out. It'd be a difficult thing to do in England but boy I'd love someone to try it.

"If Everton lured Ange down to England, they'd have to give him at least two transfer windows to get people who can do it for him as the current players at Everton are not that style. You can't do 'Angeball' with the players that are at Everton right now so I'm not sure he'd be the right fit just now."
