Why almost half of young people in UK are having to delay major life milestones

• Research by charity Trussell reveals that 47 per cent of 16 to 25-year-olds in the UK are delaying major life milestones, such as moving out and learning to drive, due to financial pressures.
• The study found that 55 per cent of young people are putting off buying a home, with stagnant wages and rising property costs making homeownership increasingly unreachable.
• Financial hardship severely impacts employment prospects, with 45 per cent rating local job opportunities as poor and only 34 per cent able to afford moving for work .
• Young people raised in financial hardship are nearly twice as likely to be NEET, contributing to more than one million young people currently out of education , employment, or training.
• Charity leaders have warned that these growing economic barriers risk locking a generation out of independence, housing , and meaningful employment.
