Whoopi Goldberg admits she's 'in trouble' on The View after calls for her to be fired

Whoopi Goldberg has admitted her role on The View is "in trouble" amid growing calls for her to be fired from the show.

The 67-year-old has faced an intense backlash in recent months following her offensive comments regarding the Holocaust.

Whoopi caused an outcry last year after saying "the Holocaust isn't about race" and is instead "about how people treat each other". She added: "It doesn't matter if you're black or white, Jews... everybody eats each other."

The presenter was suspended from The View for two weeks following her comments and has now hinted that her future on the ABC show is in danger.

On Monday's episode, panellists were joking about what would happen if the show's producer Brian Teta was to go missing.

Sunny Hostin said: "Our executive producer did tell us that if he goes missing, it's probably someone from the table."

"It's probably Joy [Behar]," Alyssa Farah Griffin quipped.

Ana Navarro added: "If Brian goes missing it's on purpose. He doesn't want to be found," before Sunny joked: "If we do it, you're not going to find out."

Whoopi then interjected saying: "It's not a "we" situation. I'm already in trouble, it ain't me," seemingly referring to the backlash she faced last year.

Just last month, Whoopi seemed to repeat her claims about the Holocaust.

In an interview with The Times of London, the actress said: "My best friend said, 'Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we're probably not a race'."

She has since apologised, saying she was trying to "convey to the reporter what I had said and why," referring to her earlier controversial comments.

Whoopi added: "It was never my intention to appear as if I was doubling down on hurtful comments."

Fans demanded the star be fired from The View following her Holocaust comments.

"@TheView Whoopi Goldberg has repeated the slur that got her suspended from your show. So now it’s time to make that suspension permanent. She clearly learned nothing from her hateful rhetoric," one person wrote.

Another added: "Here Whoopi Goldberg goes again talking about ABC & the Jews! When will she learn. She needs to be banned from TV altogether nobody wants to listen to her BS."

In response, she said: "I’m still learning a lot and believe me, I heard everything everyone said to me."

Despite calls for her to be taken off air, Whoopi's four-year contract isn't up until the summer of 2025.
