Host Ryan Tubridy kicked off the Late Late Show St Patrick's Day Special, his first show since announcing he would be stepping down, on Friday and during the opening segment he hinted at who may be next in his shoes.
The long-time host gave a nod to who the next presenter could be but didn't give any names, Ryan Tubridy said that he hopes they have success as the host, adding that "whoever she may be" he wishes them the best of luck.
While it may not be a concrete name, the subtle hint that the next host could be a "she" is a strong possibility, given that bookies have tipped Miriam O'Callaghan as the favourite to take over.

During the opening segment of the Late Late Show St Patrick’s Day special, which featured a stellar lineup including An Irish Goodbye Oscar winners Ross Lewis and James Martin and Hollywood heavyweight Liam Neeson, Tubridy said that he was “blown away by so many good wishes the last few days”.
"I just wanted to say a few brief words on it, as people were asking why. The truth of it is, in life sometimes you make a decision based on your gut, and this was my gut,” Tubridy said, opening up the show.
“My gut is based on 'when you know, you know’. I have been really blown away by so many good wishes over the last few days. I am very heartened, I'm very grateful. I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has been in touch."
He added: "It has been a real privilege to have been here with you every Friday, to be the custodian of this great institution for so 14 years, I have met some of the most inspiring people, and I've made some wonderful friends.
“To the audience at home, you guys have blown me away time after time, especially bowled over by your generosity time after time, raising millions for those who need it.
"That's really something, and I will always be very proud of that I played a part in that, and I would like to thank you for staying with me, with us, on the show.”
However, Ryan then subtly hinted at who may step in as the next host, adding: "I want to wish my successor, whoever she may be, the very best of luck. I jest, but good luck to whoever is next and I'll be supporting them, but I'm not gone just yet!"
