MasterChef has its 2022 champion after a final which viewers dubbed 'one of the closest ever,' with an incredible standard of cooking and some really emotional moments.
And the newest winner of the long-running BBC culinary contest is Eddie Scott, with judge Gregg Wallace telling he was "cooking to a standard that many professional chefs haven't reached," and John Torode saying one of his dishes could "grace the table at any restaurant." There was very little to choose between Eddie and his fellow finalists Pookie Tredell and Radha Kaushal-Bolland finished as runners-up.
Reacting to his big win, Beverley man Eddie, who broke down in the kitchen when talking about his mum, said: My whole life I feel has been building up to this moment. I can't believe I'm standing here as the MasterChef champion. It's just been the most stressful and the most enjoyable! I feel like I've just discovered who I am as cook. It's the best feeling ever."

Eddie, is the the 18th amateur cook to claim the prestigious Masterchef winner's title and follows on from Newcastle Nando's worker Tom Rhodes who won last year. Eddie beat off competition from 44 other contestants, producing outstanding plates of food along the way. For his final three-course meal, Eddie cooked turbot, topped with caviar, tempura oyster, cucumber compressed in dill oil and a champagne beurre blanc.
His main course was a Hyderabadi Dum - a caraway and nigella seed pastry-topped chicken biryani, spiced basmati rice with crispy onions, chicken thigh cooked on the bone, flavoured with saffron, Kashmiri chilli powder and cardamom, with a cucumber raita. And, his final shot at victory came courtesy of his Emilion au Chocolat, dessert, with the chocolate mousse was presented with a prune puree centre, prunes soaked in Armagnac, almond frangipane, and an almond and Armagnac creme Chantilly.
Discussing Eddie's triumph, John said: "Eddie is nothing short of a culinary powerhouse. His love of classic French food blended with the spices of India, has made us really stand up and take notice. He's daring, he's adventurous, he doesn't play it safe," said John.
Colleague Gregg Wallace added: "I think we've just seen the birth of a future great chef Eddie impressed from the moment he set foot in this kitchen. He's hardly put a foot wrong throughout the competition."
