The ultimate test in horse racing is back today with the 2023 Grand National at Aintree. 40 runners will negotiate 30 fences over the 4 miles, 2 ½ furlongs course in the world’s most famous steeplechase.
Last year, amateur jockey Sam Waley-Cohen rode Noble Yeats to victory at a whopping 50/1. Waley-Cohen retired after the race but Noble Yeats is back to defend his crown with Sean Bowen on board.
Ain’t That A Shame looks set to go off as a narrow favourite having been heavily backed in on Friday. Rachael Blackmore will ride the Henry de Bromhead-trained nine-year-old.
