Who will replace Anne Robinson on Countdown? Odds put show legend in frame for shock return

Speculation is rife on who might replace Anne Robinson on Countdown, with odds putting a legend of the Channel 4 show in the rfame for a shock return.

After being presenter of the long-running afternoon series for a year, it's been confirmed that ex Weakest Link matriarch Anne will soon be stepping down, with Anne releasing a statement which read: ""I've had a blast hosting this wonderful show. And I stayed longer than I signed up for. Now it is time for an older woman to take the reins.

"I hope too I've encouraged TV bosses to realise that not all women at the wrong end of their seventies are in care homes playing bingo and watching conjuring tricks.."

And now bookies Betfair have had their say on the frontrunners, with Romesh Ranaganathan, the host of The Weakest Link reboot the current favourite and maths wizard and Pride of Britain host Carol Vorderman in second.
