Who was fired on The Apprentice last night?

Last night The Apprentice reached the fifth episode of the current series. Sadly, one unfortunate candidate's time on the show came to an end, and viewers tuned in to see what was described as a "ruthless" firing.

Lord Sugar was joined by his adviser Karren Brady and Tim Campbell MBE.

Contestants go head to head each week to win Lord Sugar’s £250,000 business investment as they are tasked with completing a series of challenges.

This week, the remaining candidates were tasked with launching a new Formula E team before pitching for sponsorship.

The Formula E championship is a single-seater racing series designed exclusively for electric vehicles. Although Formula E race cars are fully electric, they have a similar appearance to F1 cars but are considerably more ecologically friendly.

While some candidates performed exceptionally well, Lord Sugar focused on one participant who struggled with the job back in the boardroom.

Who left The Apprentice last night?

Onyeka Nweze was fired from the latest episode, making her the sixth contender to exit. Nweze declared when she started the process: "My business is going to be making 10 million within the first five years."

Onyeka, who was given the crucial pitches to win over the backers, struggled. Her nervous speech left little impression on Lord Sugar, who was equally underwhelmed by the people saying they would invest in her.

Lord Sugar addressed Nweze saying: “Onyeka, you’re clearly a charming and highly intelligent lady, and I appreciate that you’ve done your best throughout the course of this process, but on this occasion it simply wasn’t enough.

“So, it is with regret that, Onyeka, you’re fired.”

Oliver Medforth, Paul Bowen, Asif Munaf, Amina Khan and Jack Davies were all booted out of The Apprentice in earlier weeks.

The Apprentice continues on Thursdays on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
