Who was in Manchester United training ahead of Burnley fixture as Diogo Dalot absent

Diogo Dalot was absent from first-team training on Tuesday ahead of Manchester United's match against Burnley.

Dalot returned to Carrington on Friday, which was earlier than expected, after exiting the World Cup at the quarter-final stage with Portugal, but he appeared to sustain an injury in that last appearance at Qatar and he didn't train ahead of Burnley.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Brandon Williams and Tyrell Malacia trained with the main group and they are Erik ten Hag's options at right-back for the match. Victor Lindelof can also play in that position but he's expected to start in the centre of defence.

Rhys Bennett, who played for the Under-21s against PSV Eindhoven on Monday, trained with the first-team while Zidane Iqbal and Alejandro Garnacho were also part of the group after playing in friendly matches in Spain earlier this month.

Unlike Dalot, the majority of the players who crashed out of the World Cup in the quarter-finals trained on Tuesday, which means Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, Casemiro, Fred, Antony and Fernandes are in contention to play in the League Cup.

United training squad for Burnley:

Goalkeepers: De Gea, Heaton, Dubravka, Bishop, Vitek.

Defenders: Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Maguire, Bennett, Lindelof, Shaw, Malacia.

Midfielders: McTominay, Fred, Eriksen, Casemiro, Iqbal, Van de Beek, Fernandes.

Attackers: Garnacho, Rashford, Martial, Antony, Elanga, Pellistri.

United's match against Burnley will kick off at 20:00 GMT at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.
