A 32-year-old Bank of America vice-president has been identified as the woman killed in a stabbing in Times Square on Monday. Erin Piacenti died in hospital after being stabbed near West 42nd Street and Seventh Avenue at around 4.24 pm, in what police described as an unprovoked incident that was not terrorism-related.
Piacenti's death has drawn attention not only because it unfolded in one of the world's busiest tourist areas but also because of her advancing career in a critical but often less visible part of banking: compliance and risk. She was a vice-president of business selection and conflicts, a role that involves vetting deals and clients for ethical, legal and reputational risk.
