A contestant on the latest episode of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which aired on Saturday, September 24 at 9.30pm, has tugged at the heartstrings of ITV's viewers as she explained who her intended 'phone a friend' contact was due to be in planning for her appearance on the show.
The children and family worker, originally from Tipperary who now lives in Buckinghamshire, told the show's host, Jeremy Clarkson - who took over from Chris Tarrant in 2018 - upon bagging the sum of £1000 with a question on where Loch Lomand is located, that her grandmother was going to be the one who she would call should she wish to use the lifeline 'phone a friend'.

Sadly, Jenni went on the explain that appearing on the show was exciting yet "heartbreaking" as, shortly before she made her way into the Who Wants To Be A Millionaire chair, Jenni's grandmother died of covid.
Explaining to the Top Gear daredevil, who revealed that in Jenni's notes it stated who her lifeline contact had been, Jenni said: "So, my final conversation with my grandmother was to tell her I had a phone call from the team to say that I was going through to the next round.
"But sadly, she passed away quite suddenly of Covid and so it's heartbreaking, but I made it into this chair and it's an honour to do this in memory of her."
Jeremy responded: "Let's hope you go long way in memory of her." Asking Jenni's grandmother's name, Jeremy then added: "This is for you, Judy."
Viewers took to Twitter to express their support for the contestant after hearing this news. @MsDiva_Fabulous wrote, alongside an emoi of a sad face: "Oh gosh #whowantstobeamillionaire", while user @Fox_Radjen added: "Heartbreaking about Jenni’s grandmother."
And although Jenni Kerr left the show with not a million poumds but £32,000, having met Jeremy Clarkson, appeared on the show and won money, she declared: "I'm a winner" with joy.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire airs every Saturday night on ITV at 9.30pm.
