Jolyon Palmer wasn't trying to be creative when he asked Liam Lawson about his future during F1 TV's live post-race coverage. It was simply a question anyone would ask – perhaps even Lawson himself. The sort of question you ask without really expecting an answer, more out of wonderment as to why the answer isn't already an obvious yes.
"Another race, another win, in the race that you were in, really, the midfield battle," the former Renault driver and now one of F1's top analysts put to Lawson after a couple of questions from his colleagues. And then added: "When are you going to be announced for next year?"
