Emmerdale bosses have promised some huge storylines for 2022 - and some big and dramatic exits as well.
As the ITV soap prepares for a huge and exciting 50th anniversary celebration, we take a look at who's leaving the Dales for good - and who might find their final scenes being aired this year too.
There's huge storylines planned, including things heating up for evil serial killer Meena Jutla as she finally gets her day in court, Vinny and Liv's secret wedding, rows between the Dingles, and a huge feud for Al and Cain rumbling into the later months of the year.
We take a look at all the stars who are leaving, are rumoured to be leaving and have left in 2022.
Leaving
Meena Jutla will bid a final farewell to the ITV soap later this year.
It was thought she might have died, after being pushed over the bridge by Dr Liam Cavanagh at the same spot where Meena murdered his daughter Leanna Cavanagh months before - but she survived and after a brief stay in hospital, she was soon quizzed by police over the long list of murders that have plagued the village in recent months.
Earlier this year, actress Paige Sandhu confirmed she would be leaving her role as the evil serial killer.
"I think Meena’s hilarious, she’s got so much charisma, she’s so strange and odd. She’s so much fun to play. Going to those dark places is really fulfilling but then there’s that slightly comedic edge," she said at the time.
"I love her flamboyant nature. I’ll miss everything about her," she explained as she confirmed her exit.
But how will Meena exit - and will the villagers finally get justice?
Could be leaving
David Metcalfe and Victoria Sugden have been in and out of the soap multiple times in the last few months. The actors - Matthew Wolfenden and Isabel Hodgins - were allegedly involved in a 'race row' on set and they stopped filming briefly whilst the claim was investigated. However, they have since returned to the show.
Victoria was nearly killed by evil Meena, as she tried to drown her after the bridge collapse last year. Meena targeted Victoria after her ex-lover David split from her and instead went off with Victoria.
In scenes airing a few weeks ago, the couple said they were going away again - before making a surprise return in scenes later that week. But after what they've been through with Meena will they exit the show for good?
Manpreet Sharma - played by Rebecca Sarker - might soon be heading for a spectacular soap exit too, as she struggles to cope with her sister's crimes. Meena has murdered many people since her short time in the village and even if she does get what she deserves, fans are worried about Manpreet as she struggles to cope with what her sister has done.
Dr Manpreet visits her sister in prison this week, but there's a huge twist - as Meena decides to pin Andrea Tate's murder on her own sibling. How much more can Manpreet take and will she struggle to cope as Meena plots her revenge.
Left
We may only be a few months into 2022 but some of Emmerdale's characters have already made their exit from the ITV soap, including Ellis Chapman, played by Aaron Anthony.
It is believed he quit the show after the race row involving Matthew and Isabel, after a 'heated argument' on set - but whatever reason he decided to leave, he has now made his exit as Ellis.
In scenes airing earlier this year, just days before his brother Billy Fletcher married Dawn Taylor, Ellis announced he had got a big job in Australia and made his decision to leave the Dales for sunnier climes. He bid an emotional goodbye to Priya, but he was never seen saying a fond farewell to his own father Al Chapman and his girlfriend at the time, Belle Dingle.
Tracy Metcalfe also bid a potential temporary goodbye to the Yorkshire village. Played by actress Amy Walsh - who was off on maternity leave - Tracy exited the show in scenes airing back in January.
Admitting at the time she was excited for motherhood and the baby's arrival, she said: "I feel weirdly excited about it. I'm sure everyone who's been through it reading this will laugh but it's something I've always wanted to experience."
She also documented the struggle to keep the baby bump under wraps in the show, as she added: "Trying to hide the bump was getting so ridiculous! I've had cushions in front of me and there's been a lot of coats and scarves. Plus my fingers are so swollen! I don't feel like me anymore and I'm so bloated."
Debbie Dingle actress Charley Webb also confirmed her exit from the show earlier this year. She hasn't been seen in the Dales properly for some time, but back in February, she announced she wasn't coming back to fans on social media.
"I left to have Ace two years ago," she explained to fans, "I went back at the end of last year for ten weeks to complete a storyline so I guess officially it's been a year. I never felt the need to announce it so we didn't."
However, she has hinted she might return to acting one day, as she said: "When the right thing comes to me, I'll be back."
