The semi-final week of Celebrity MasterChef's latest series kicked off on Tuesday night as the eight remaining famous faces selected from the four weeks of heats returned to the kitchen. Judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace were keen to put the celebrities teamwork to the test as they split them into two groups for their first challenge.
Each team was tasked with preparing four dishes as they served up a feast for the 70 pilots, medics and support staff at Essex and Herts Air Ambulance. Their second challenge saw them return to the kitchen to create a dish using leftovers from the previous day.
But who was the latest star to leave the competition and when is the next round of semi-final week on our screens? Here are all the details:
Who left Celebrity MasterChef last night?
Stage and screen actress, Lesley Joseph - who is best known for her role as Dorien Green in Birds of a Feather - became the latest celebrity to leave the kitchen on Tuesday (September 6). The 76-year-old failed to impress the judges with her chicken curry, spiced with ginger and chili, and served up with boiled rice.
Although John complimented her on the flavours and use of spices, he added that the chicken was "shredded" and slightly pink and her rice wasn't fully cooked. Gregg added that the sauce was "too watery" and that the "major problem" was the "presentation" of the chicken.
After comparing the rest of the dishes, the judges made the decision that Lesley should be the next to leave the competition. She said of her departure: "I’m quite relieved really. It’s been a fantastic competition, I’ve absolutely loved it, but I know it’s time for me to go now, today was a disaster."
Celebrity MasterChef continues on Thursday (September 8), when the seven remaining contestants are challenged with preparing one of Dame Mary Berry's classic recipes to impress the cook herself and John and Gregg. Their second challenge will involve creating a dish dedicated to Her Majesty the Queen in honour of her Platinum Jubilee.
The second round of semi-final week will air from 8pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. You can stream the series so far over on the BBC iPlayer.
