Rangers are believed to be on the brink of signing highly-rated winger Thompson Ishaka - six months after he blew fans away on trial with the B-team.
The Ibrox side had a close look at Ishaka back in the summer and footage went viral on social media of the teenage Nigerian taking Elgin City's Darryl McHardy for a ride. Fans were expecting much from him but all soon went quiet as the club didn't offer him a deal and he left to try his luck down south.
It's now being reported that the reason a deal didn't go through at that time was simple - his age. He was only 17 at the time and it was reported that complicated a deal as he was still a minor. But fast forward eight months and All Nigeria Soccer are reporting that with Ishaka having turned 18 in November, Rangers have offered him a contract and he's expected to sign, with the club beating out interest from PSV, Chelsea and Manchester City in his signature. They say it's a 'major coup' for the Scottish Premiership side with Ishaka initially set to join up with the B-team.
