The Earl of Snowdon will walk behind the Queen’s coffin
(Picture: Daniel Leal/AFP via Getty Images)The Queen’s coffin will travel from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Hall on Wednesday (September 14), where she will lie-in-state until her funeral on Monday, September 19.
A ceremonial procession will transport the coffin down the Mall to Westminster Hall, with a number of Royal Family members set to walk behind the Queen’s coffin.
King Charles III, Prince William, and Prince Harry are all set to walk in the procession, which will leave Buckingham Palace at 2.22pm and will arrive at Westminster Hall at 3pm.
Thousands of mourners are already lining the streets of central London to pay their respects to the late queen.
As well as the Queen’s children and grandchildren, some lesser-known royals will also be present – including the Earl of Snowdon.
Who is the Earl of Snowdon?
David Armstrong-Jones, the Earl of Snowdon, is the son of the late Princess Margaret (Queen Elizabeth II’s sister), and photographer Antony Armstrong-Jones.
This means that the late Queen was his aunt, and King Charles III is his cousin.
His mother died in 2002 and his father died in 2017.
The earl married his ex-wife Serena, Countess of Snowdon, in 1993, but they divorced in 2020.
They have two children together: Viscount Linley, Charles Armstrong-Jones (23), and Lady Margarita Armstrong-Jones (20).
Lady Margarita was a bridesmaid at Prince William and Princess Catherine’s wedding in 2011, and attended the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding in 2018.
In 1985, under his professional name, David Linley, the Earl of Snowdon founded a company making bespoke furniture.
