Strictly Come Dancing is set to dazzle screens once more for the 20th series of the long running TV favourite. The celebrity dance competition has been announcing this year's contestants and that includes Hamza Yassin.
Hamza, who is the thirteenth contestant announced, is a wildlife cameraman and presenter based in Scotland. Born in Sudan, he moved to Scotland when he was younger with dreams of filming wildlife in the Scottish Highlands.
As the news was announced, Hamza said: “I am absolutely over the moon to be joining Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show.

“I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live in front of the British public. My dance skills are currently at the level of ‘1970’s disco vibe’ but I’m ready to work hard and will be shaking it every time I get the chance – shake it ‘til you make it!”
The Strictly contestant is no stranger to the BBC as he has worked on shows such as Countryfile and Animal Parks. Parents may recognise him as Ranger Hamza from CBeebies live-action show Let’s Go For A Walk.
Recently, Hamza presented Channel 4 documentary Scotland: My Life in the Wild as well as a show in which he guided celebrity companions across the country’s wilder areas called Scotland: Escape to the Wilderness.
The 32-year-old gained a degree in Zoology from Bangor University before achieving a Masters in Biological Photography and Imaging from the University of Nottingham. In his spare time Hamza also participates in the Highland Games and is a keen motorcyclist.
He is set to compete against Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, singer Fleur East and footballer Tony Adams. The first two contestants announced this year were Kym Marsh and Will Mellor on August 4, 2022.
Series 20 of Strictly Come Dancing is set to air in early September 2022, although no official date has been announced. Celebrities will dance their way through an estimated thirteen weeks of training and live shows to get their hands on the famed Glitterball trophy.
