The Masked Dancer fans are now convinced that Scissors is a chart-topping X Factor star, after a 'giveaway' line was uttered in their latest clue package.
Scissors is one of the most striking and most talked about acts of the ITV show's new series so far after an amazing first performance, that saw names like Jade Thirlwall, Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts thrown into the mix as to who they could be. Scissors was back to try and impress the celebrity panel and studio audience on Saturday night.
But it was something said in their clues, rather than anything in their performance, that led many people watching at home convinced that the star in the Scissors costume is none other than X Factor 2008 winner Alexandra Burke. Alexandra went onto to land three number 1 singles after beating JLS in the final 14 years ago

Another of her top 10 singles was Elephant, released in 2012. The song features the line 'there's an elephant in the room,' which was the exact line spoken by Scissors on Saturday night. Alexandra is also famous for saying in a TV interview that she effectively brought the well used saying back to the UK after hearing it in America.
It took just that one line to spark a Twitter guessing frenzy over Alexandra being Scissors, with one viewers totally convinced as they posted: "Surely scissors is Alexandra Burke, can’t believe we loved all those years without the saying “elephant in the room” until she imported it from America," with another, equally sure, tweeting: "elephant in the room? Scissors is defo Alexandra Burke after that interview of her claiming she brought that phrase to England."
The Masked Dancer and The Masked Singer are both known for trying to throw viewers and the panel off the scent by making them think it's someone with misleading clues. And, predicting that could well be the case with Scissors, one sceptic reacted: "Think the clues are wanting you to think #scissors is Alexandra Burke…elephant in the room, X Factor? Don’t think it is though - think it’s @ImAshleyRoberts."
