TV favourite Sarah Beeny is making a return to TV with her new Channel 4 series, Sarah Beeny’s New Life in the Country, this month on April 17.
It follows the broadcaster, her husband, Graham Swift, and their four children as they adapt to a new life in Somerset.
The show was filmed before her recent cancer diagnosis, which she has now got the all-clear for. Sharing a promotional photo from the show, Beeny explained: “New series out on Monday! As you can see, filmed last year – at a time when I took my hair for granted!”
But, who exactly is Sarah Beeny and what has she been diagnosed with? Here is everything we know.
Who is Sarah Beeny?
Sarah Beeny is a 51-year-old broadcaster and entrepreneur from Reading, Berkshire. She studied drama at Queen Mary’s College sixth-form college and aged 17 decided to travel around the world before returning home and taking on a series of odd jobs like window cleaning and door-to-door sales.
She met her husband, Graham Swift when the two became business partners who developed property together. Swift’s sister Sarah Delafield-Cool ended up asking Beeny if she would be up for a screen test for a new property development show and the rest was history.
Her on-screen career began with Property Ladder, and continued with shows like One Year to Pay Off Your Mortgage, Help! My House Is Falling Down, and Village SOS.
What was Sarah Beeny diagnosed with?
In August 2022, the TV personality revealed that she was starting her radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
The star lost her mother to the same disease at the age of 39, when she was just 10 years old.
In April, the star revealed that her doctors have given her the all-clear. Talking about it on ITV’s Lorraine with Christine Lampard, she said: “I feel very fortunate that I had the diagnosis that I did, and that I live in 2023 and that I’m the age that I am. So many things I’m fortunate for, so I feel very blessed.”
