Todd Boehly has another big decision to make after sacking Thomas Tuchel on Wednesday. The American is currently interviewing candidates to replace Tuchel as Chelsea's new head coach, with Graham Potter expected to leave his duties as Brighton boss and take over at Stamford Bridge.
football.london understands that Potter has reached a verbal agreement to become Chelsea's new head coach after meeting Boehly for talks on Wednesday. No contracts have been signed just yet, but Potter is expected to become the Blues' new manager – with the club hoping to appoint him before Saturday afternoon's Premier League match with Fulham.
Nevertheless, there's still a possibility that the impending appointment could go wrong. Another candidate rumoured to be in contention for the job is Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim.

Whilst Blues fans will know a lot about Potter because of the time he's spent on the south coast. They're likely to know less about Amorim. With that in mind, let's take a brief look at his career thus far.
Club career
Born in Lisbon, Amorim spent the majority of his playing career in his home nation. Starting out at hometown club Belenenses - where he spent five years - he moved to Portuguese giants Benfica in 2008, where he won three Primeira Liga titles and several other honours.
In the latter stages of his career, he enjoyed spells at Braga and Qatari side Al-Wakrah.
Coaching career
Amorim has made a very promising start to his career in management. After initially taking charge of Braga's reserves, he replaced the dismissed Ricardo Sa Pinto at the helm of the first team on a two-and-a-half-year contract. Three weeks after his appointment, he led his side to victory over Porto in the Taca de Liga thanks to a last-minute winner from Ricardo Horta.
Despite having just two weeks of topflight managerial experience, he was appointed Sporting Lisbon's manager in March 2020 and in the following season, he led Sporting to their first league title in 19 years.
