The now-viral TikTok video from Sophia Coppola's daughter, Romy Croquet Mars, is causing quite a stir on the interwebs.
For the uninitiated, allow us to catch you up: in the clip, the 16-year-old decided to try her hand at a TikTok food recipe while grounded by her famous filmmaker mother...for attempting to charter a helicopter on her parents' dime.
"Make a vodka sauce pasta with me because I’m grounded," the teen said in a since-deleted video. "I tried to charter a helicopter from New York to Maryland on my dad’s credit card because I wanted to have dinner with my camp friend."
The "nepo baby" chatter only increased from there, but if you ask us, people are burying the lede. While seemingly holding a shallot, Romy hilariously added: "I don't know the difference between garlic and onion and I just had to Google images of onions on my phone. I'm embarrassed." (This is giving "Kendall Jenner doesn't know how to cut a cucumber," no?)
Romy, has grandpa—a.k.a. Francis Ford Coppola, a.k.a. the iconic director of The Godfather trilogy a.k.a. the epitome of Italian superstardom—taught you nothing?!
Now that the high schooler has effectively turned our attention away from the likes of boyfriend air and the mascara trend on TikTok, everyone's curious to learn a little more about her. Let's get to know Romy Croquet Mars!

Before we dive in, let's look through the evidence. Romy Croquet Mars' viral video is allegedly poking fun at the ridiculousness of the situation, but it has still been deleted. (The teen reportedly went against her parents' wishes for creating a TikTok in the first place.) Before the fantastic moment faded into the abyss, @savbrads managed to salvage the footage.
After watching the cooking special in all of its glory, some say the next generation of Coppola directors is upon us! Mom Sofia Coppola—one of only seven women ever nominated for Best Director at the Oscars (she also took one home for writing the Lost in Translation screenplay)—once said: "I try to just make what I want to make or what I would want to see. I try not to think about the audience too much."
Somehow, her daughter managed to give the audience exactly what they were looking for—whether she was thinking about them or not.

Who is Romy Croquet Mars? Meet Sofia Coppola's daughter
Born in 2006, the 16-year-old Romy Croquet Mars is the daughter of filmmaker Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides, Marie Antoinette, The Bling Ring) and Thomas Mars (born Thomas Pablo Croquet), the lead singer of the popular French indie band Phoenix.
Romy comes from Hollywood royalty: her grandfather is the inimitable film icon, Francis Ford Coppola, her great-aunt is Academy Award-nominated actress Talia Shire, and actors Nicolas Cage and Jason Schwartzman are among her cousins.
Though she comes from Italian roots, the teen was born in Paris and raised in New York City, according to Town & Country. She has a younger sister, Cosmia, who is 12 years old.
Does Romy Croquet Mars act?
Despite that Hollywood lineage, it appears that Romy is not well-versed in the entertainment industry, at least yet. She doesn't professionally act, but she's been photographed at fun events, like New York Fashion Week in 2020, with her mom. Sofia might not have let her kid charter a helicopter, but at least she brought her to a Marc Jacobs runway show!
Where does Romy Croquet Mars go to camp?
What got Romy into this whole predicament in the first place is the fact that she wanted to visit a "camp friend." It's not clear where she and her pal from Maryland spend their summers, but everyone's certainly curious now!
What is Romy Mars' TikTok handle?
Due to all of the social-media attention, Romy has since deleted her TikTok page.
Ironically, during the now-viral video, the teen stated: "I thought I would do this since I’m already grounded because my parents’ biggest rule is that I’m not allowed to have any public social media accounts...because they don’t want me to be a nepotism kid, but TikTok is not gonna make me famous so it doesn’t really matter."
There you have it folks, the highly-viewed TikTok from film royalty. Here's hoping her pasta sauce turned out well!
