Netflix has teased a new trailer for The Witcher season three - which will be the show's last starring Henry Cavill. The Brit has played Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix fantasy since its first season, but announced his exit in October.
Henry had only made a "short-term deal" for The Witcher, according to Deadline. Buts fans reckon other commitments are behind his departure.
The new, two and a half minute trailer shows the return of several familiar faces including Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri. Joining the cast is Upload star Robbie Amell, Shang-Chi actress Meng’er Zhang, Fleabag’s Hugh Skinner and Half Bad’s Christelle Elwin

The official synopsis for season three reads: “As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.
“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery.
“They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”
In October, it was announced that Australian actor Liam Hemsworth would be taking over the role for the show's fourth season. The news came days before Henry officially announce he is to reprise his role as Superman in future DC projects, following a cameo appearance in Black Adam, which stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular antihero.
Confirming his departure on Instagram, Henry said: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4. In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.
“As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”
Following the announcement, Liam posted on Instagram saying he was “over the moon” to be given the opportunity and “honoured” to be handed the reins from Henry. Though neither Netflix or Henry have confirmed the reason for his departure, fans have speculated he stepped down because his vision for the show did not align with the writers’ plans and the shows differences to its source material, of which Henry is known to be a fan.
The Witcher Season 3 debuts on Netflix on June 29.
