Who is Ozark actress Laura Linney and what other TV shows has she been in as final episodes land on Netflix

The Netflix crime drama Ozark has proved hugely popular around the globe. However, it was sadly announced that the show would be coming to an end after the second part of its season four release, which hit the streaming platform today.

The show first hit our screens in 2017 and tells the story of how married couple Marty and Wendy Byrde up-end their typical suburban life in Chicago and head down to the Ozarks, Missouri, where they become drawn into the very heart of criminal undertakings involving several crime empires.

Many fans have been looking to learn more about the season four cast, which includes huge names like Jason Bateman and Julia Garner, as well as the broader cast like Sofia Hublitz, Skylar Gaertner, Charlie Tahan, Jessica Frances Dukes, Lisa Emery, Felix Solis, Damian Young, Alfonso Herrera and many more.

One of the most recognisable names in the cast is the Emmy award-winning actress Laura Linney, who plays Wendy Byrde.

Who is Ozark actress Laura Linney?

According to her IMDB biography, Laura Leggett Linney was born on February 5, 1964 (making her 58 at the time of writing) in New York City, USA. Her father was a celebrated playwright by the name of Romulus, and her mother was a nurse.

After graduating from Brown University, she went on to study acting at the prestigious Juilliard and the Arts Theatre School and then began her career on Broadway before moving into film and TV. In what proved to be a glittering career, she's won many awards, including several primetime Emmys.

She was previously married to The Thomas Crown Affair actor David Adkins. However, the pair divorced in the year 2000. She went on to marry Marc Schauer in 2009, and the couple has one child.

What TV shows has Laura Linney been in?

Laura Linney has worked extensively as an actor on both the small and big screen, as well as in the theatre. While her most notable film credits include You Can Count On Me and Kinsey, her fantastic performance in Ozark has got many fans wondering about her previous TV roles.

Her first credited TV show appearance is as Mary Ann Singleton in the TV miniseries Tales of the City from 1993 (a role she would reprise in the 1998, 2001 and 2019 series of the show), followed by an episode of Law and Order in 1994.

In 2001 she would appear as Zelda Fitzgerald in the documentary American Masters, followed by some voice over work as Marlene in King of the Hill. Many fans of her previous TV shows will recognise her from the role that came next, as Charlotte in the legendary US comedy (and Cheers spin-off) Frasier from 2003 to 2004.

After Frasier, she lent her voice to two more pieces of work, including as Doctor Gupta in American Dad! and as the narrator for the TV documentary American Experience. Her next big TV part came in the miniseries John Adams, about one of the USA's founding fathers, which also starred Paul Giamatti, and saw Linney play Abigail Adams.

One of her most prominent TV roles arrived in 2010 when she would spend three years playing Cathy Jamison in The Big C, which ran for forty episodes. Outside of an appearance as herself in the comedy series Inside Amy Schumer, her subsequent TV work would be in the hit US news comedy Last Week Tonight with John Oliver in 2017, where she would appear as Florence Harding in the spoof trailer for a film about the life of a former president, Warren Harding.

She would have three more TV roles outside of Ozark – three appearances as Mitzi Mills in Sink Sank Sunk, a voice-over appearance in BoJack Horseman, and another series of Tales of the City in 2019.
