Who is Mushroom on The Masked Singer? All the clues and fan theories ahead of final

Mushroom had a rocky start to their time on The Masked Singer.

They ended up being in the bottom three in the first episode of the guessing game this year, but managed to claw it back and make it all the way to the final of the ITV show.

Throughout the show, they have sung a wide variety of hits including It's Oh So Quiet as well as There Are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease, Gnarls Barkley's hit song Crazy and Stone Cold by Demi Lovato.

Ahead of the final, we take a look at who Mushroom could be and all the clues that prove the fan theories.

Mushroom has kept fans guessing (ITV)

In the first episode of the series, Mushroom welcomed viewers to the "woodland".

"As a mushroom I'm quite mellow and care-free, but I have been known to sprout in the more serious part of the forest, from time to time. Did you know that Mushrooms help control life in the woods," they said in the clue package.

"They can help things decay and bring new life. Which is just like me. I like to start new things and try new lives. When Mushrooms pop their heads above the ground, they can take many forms and as they grow, they might want to be any number of things."

Mushroom from The Masked Singer has been impressing viewers at home (ITV)

Mushroom has hinted that they love "soaking up and communicating knowledge", as they say "it is something they're extremely passionate about". They also alluded to lots of travelling, adding: "I've been very lucky to be able to leave my forest and plant myself in the woods of exciting places, far from home. I must say, it really is nice to be a part of the action and I've seen a lot of places."

The celebrity behind the mask also alluded to having their own fragrance.

"We're more than halfway into this competition, and while you might think that odour is the sweet smell of success, it's actually ... 'Interest' by Mushroom. Interest. It's the fragrance that asks the question, 'Why are you so obsessed with me?'"

Fans are sure Mushroom could be Charlotte Church or Loose Women's Jane Macdonald (ITV)

Fans are convinced they've worked it out to be Welsh singer Charlotte Church, after cracking it from a phone-in number clue. At the end of Mushroom's VT last Saturday night, it showed the numbers '345997'.

Some clever viewers managed to decipher what that numbers equal in letters, and it appears to be a Welsh word, 'eglwys' that when translated into English reads 'church'.

Other guesses include Martel Maxwell from Homes Under The Hammer and Loose Women star Jane McDonald.
