Who is Matty Healy? Taylor Swift's rumoured boyfriend is a music icon and son of showbiz parents

He is rumoured to be one half of showbiz's hot new couple but Matty Healy, as well as apparently being Taylor Swift's new man, is also a music icon in his own right and has two very famous parents.

Late on Wednesday night UK time, reports surfaced that 1975 frontman Matt and megastar Taylor were an item, with the stars said to be 'madly in love' according to The Sun. A source told the paper: "Matty Healy's rise to fame and showbiz parents amid Taylor Swift rumours.,"

Speculation that Matty and Taylor are an item comes just a month after it was officially confirmed that the Love Story singer had split from her actor other half Joe Alwyn, with Matty having been in a relationship with ex and fellow musician FKA Twigs until their break up last summer.

Talking about them Matty and Taylor getting together, an insider added: "Both Matty and Taylor have been touring over the past few weeks, so it’s been a lot of Face-Timing and texting but she cannot wait to see him again."

News of their rumoured romance caused a real astir online, with fans buzzing about speculation that they're about to go public when she performs in Nashville this weekends.

Who is Matty Healy?

The oldest son of Denise Welch and Tim Healy, Matty was born in London on April 8, 1989, making him very nearly 34-years-old.

Matt grew up on his parents' home turf of Newcastle, before making the switch to Cheshire when he was nine, as mum Denise became one of the most recognisable faces on primetime TV as Natalie Horrocks in Coronation Street.

Matty left school with three GCSEs and in a newspaper interview from 2016 made it abundantly clear he wasn't a massive fan of his school days, saying: ""school was just a tedious imposition, getting in the way of me being a pop star"

The 1975 were formed in 2002, with its members all working as delivery boys for the same Chinese restaurant and, as well as forging ahead with getting the band off the ground, Matty also shared a stage with his parents at famous Newcastle show Sunday for Sammy in 2006, performing a fantastic cover of Hallelujah,

The 1975 got their real breakthrough with the release of their self titled album in 2013 and have seen their star rise higher and ever since, with them currently touring in support of their latest album Being Funny in a Foreign Language.

When the show arrived in Newcastle, dad Tim was a surprise star guest on stage, with Lewis Capaldi also making an appearance on the same night and, when the band played London's O2 Arena, their surprise guest was none other than Taylor, with Denise over the moon to get a photo with her backstage, after Taylor had delighted fans by performing Anti-Hero at the gig.

Throughout the tour, Matty has made headlines thanks to him eating a raw steak on stage and has recently been nominated for an Ivor Novello songwriting award.
