League of Ireland star Scott van der Sluis has left Shelbourne to join reality dating show Love Island.
The club confirmed this morning that the goalkeeper has left the club in order to take up the opportunity.
It has been rumoured for weeks that a League of Ireland star was set to enter the famous villa. Van der Sluis' name had been mentioned as a possibility before his first appearance on Wednesday evening.

This is not the first time a football player with ties to the League of Ireland has appeared on Love Island.
Aaron Simpson, a former player for Waterford, participated in the 2021 edition of the show before later playing football again in England's lower divisions.
Van der Sluis was the Shelbourne back up goalkeeper who had played for the club since 2022.
The Welshman was predominently deployed as a backup to Shels star Conor Kearns and failed to make a single appearance in the League of Ireland.
His only outing for Shels came in the FAI Cup win over Bonagee United last August.
He has represented his native Wales at underage level and has also spent time at Manchester United and Liverpool as an academy prospect.
