Who is Isaac Price and the other three new players in Northern Ireland's squad?

Michael O'Neill's first squad since returning as Northern Ireland manager features four new faces.

The international boss has named Cameron McGeehan, Sean Goss, Eoin Toal and Isaac Price in his 26-strong panel for the upcoming European qualifiers against San Marino and Finland.

A raft of injuries to key personnel including Steven Davis, Stuart Dallas, Corry Evans and Ali McCann has forced O'Neill to reshape his squad for the double-header.

If you don't know much about the four newcomers, fear not. We have you covered.

Here are some details on the quartet and what O'Neill said about them at Tuesday's press conference:

Cameron McGeehan (KV Oostende) and Sean Goss (Motherwell)

Midfielder McGeehan has represented Northern Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 level. He was also called up to the senior squad in 2018 when O'Neill was manager but had to withdraw due to injury.

The 27-year-old is currently playing for Belgian First Division A club KV Oostende and has previously featured for Norwich City, Luton Town and Barnsley. He also had loan spells at Luton, Cambridge United, Scunthorpe United and Portsmouth, before switching to Belgium’s top flight in August 2020 after leaving Barnsley.

Motherwell midfielder Goss (27) was also called up to the senior squad in 2018 during O’Neill’s first stint as manager, however injury halted any potential appearance. Goss was on Manchester United’s books as a youth, and previously played at senior club level for Queens Park Rangers, Rangers, St Johnstone and Shrewsbury Town before joining Motherwell in 2021.

MON: "McGeehan and Goss are probably the two that people would know the least about. They're both players who were on my radar during my first phase in the job. Cameron was involved at Under 21 level and we had spoken about Sean's involvement with Northern Ireland through eligibility back then.

"They are both at different stages of their careers now and are keen to be involved. And they add something to a squad that has been challenged with the injuries in midfield. Steven Davis is out, Corry Evans and most recently Alistair McCann, on top of Stuart Dallas. They are four players who would start a lot of games for Northern Ireland and they are all missing. So that presents an opportunity to Cameron and Sean."

Eoin Toal - Bolton Wanderers

Defender Toal joined Bolton Wanderers from Derry City last summer, and has previously played for Northern Ireland at U17, U19 and U21 level. The 24-year-old is a former U21s captain.

The former Armagh City player has scored three goals in 18 League One appearances for Bolton this season.

MON: "Eoin Toal is a young player I have watched quite a bit of. He has had quite a similar route in football to Gareth McAuley, in terms of having to wait for his chance. But I remember him playing for us at Under 19 and 21 level and every time I have seen him this season for Bolton he has played very well. I have watched him four times since coming back into the job in December.

"He is versatile. He can play on the right, the left, and is playing in a good Bolton team challenging for promotion. And he has made the transition into English football pretty straightforward.

Isaac Price (Everton)

Everton midfielder Price (19) is a very exciting prospect who has been tipped for big things. Former Toffees boss Frank Lampard was a huge fan and gave the youngster his chance.

Price has featured for Northern Ireland U17, U19 and U21 teams in recent years and has been a regular with Everton's U21s at Goodison Park. He also made his Premier League debut for the Toffees last season and has appeared for the first team in the FA Cup.

MON: "Isaac Price is a young player who we should be excited about, but he is here for the experience. I watched him for Everton Under 21s against PSV in the Premier League Cup and I was very impressed by how he played. He is a player I knew because he was in our system from 14 or 15 and there has been a lot of work done with players such as Isaac and Shea Charles. Players who weren't born here but have been in our system for quite some time.

"That is work that has been done by Andy Cousins and Jim Magilton over the years, and more recently Andy Waterworth. They have come through the pathway and are now in the senior international camp."
