Who is Heartstopper actor Joe Locke and what has he said about playing Charlie Spring in the Netflix series?

The first season of a new Netflix series called, Heartstopper, is now available to watch on the popular streaming service. The film is a love story that follows high school students Joe and Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor).

The coming of age series is a coming-out story between the two main characters, teenagers, Joe and Nick. The Netflix series is set in England.

Other members of the cast include Oscar award-winning actress Olivia Coleman who plays the mother of one of the teens in the show. William Gao, who plays Tao, is also on the cast, as well as Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Yasmin Finney (Elle), Corinna Brown (Tara) and more.

The Netflix series was released on Friday, April 22 this year and originates from volume one of Alice Oseman's graphic novel.

Who is Heartstopper actor Joe Locke?

As well as playing his role as a school student in Heartstopper, Joe Locke is also a college student in real life. In an interview with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the ITV daytime show This Morning, it was revealed that both Joe and his fellow cast member, Kit are both in the process of studying for their A-Level exams.

Joe Locke is 18 years old from the Isle of Mann and Heartopper is his first big role as a professional actor.

What has Joe Locke said about Heartstopper?

Speaking on what it was like to star in Heartstopper, Joe told This Morning it was a ‘’dream come true’’. Locke also noted in the interview that Alice Oseman was heavily involved in the making process of the film. He said ‘’I think it’s so wonderful we’ve been able to create this story because there isn’t anything like it.’’
