The couple had been in Poovar for a film shoot when tensions escalated. According to police officials, Monalisa firmly refused to accompany her father when he attempted to take her back home and made it clear that she intended to marry Farman.
“As she is a major, she can act according to her choice,” a police officer said, confirming that Monalisa had the legal right to decide her future. Although her father was in Kerala at the time, he chose not to attend the wedding ceremony.
