Bolton Wanderers have had a bid turned down by Derry City for central defender Eoin Toal.
Wanderers have targeted the central defender as potentially their next acquisition this summer. Three signings have been made so far by Ian Evatt's side ahead of the fresh League One campaign.
Defender Jack Iredale has joined on a permanent basis. Goalkeeper James Trafford and right-back Conor Bradley have both been signed up on loan for the season from Manchester City and Liverpool respectively.

Wanderers have bid for the Derry defender with the aim of Toal becoming the latest signing this transfer window. After the three earlier additions, the Whites hope to make a maximum of two more signings this summer.
Evatt has confirmed Wanderers have bid for Toal's services, but that his current employers have turned it down. The Whites will monitor where their interest in the player leads and will move on to other targets if the value Derry have for Toal exceeds what Wanderers are willing to part with.
The defender will be out of contract at the end of November at his current club. But who is the 23-year-old who Wanderers have bid for?
Toal was born in Armagh in February 1999 and came through the youth team ranks at Armagh City. He has been at Derry since mid-2017.
Toal has made more than 150 appearances for Derry and scored six goals since making his debut for the club against Finn Harps and has taken the captain's armband for the past two campaigns. This season, he has turned out 20 times in the League of Ireland Premier Division and scored once.
Toal's side are poised to be in action in European competition this evening. Ruaidhri Higgins' men take on Latvian side Riga FC in the Europa Conference League qualifiers.
On the international front, Toal has represented Northern Ireland in the youth levels. He has three caps for the nation at under-19 and under-19 level, including a goal for the latter.
He has played 10 times for Northern Ireland's under-21s. His most recent appearance for this squad came in late 2020 against Ukraine in a 3-0 loss away in European Under-21 Championship qualifying.
