During New York Liberty games, fans may notice a very animated mascot perusing around the arena. Her name is Ellie the Elephant.
Introduced to the public in 2022 as part of the New York Liberty’s 25th anniversary season, Ellie has become a main fixture during games. Named after Ellis Island, Ellie is a symbol of New York’s history and is meant to represent strength, power, wisdom and determination.
She also represents a whole lot of confidence.
Through hysterical TikTok videos and electric performances at the Barclays Center, Ellie has danced her way into the hearts of many WNBA fans and even celebrities who frequently attend Liberty games.

Ellie’s energy is always unmatched, and so is her sense of humor, as shown during this Lil’ Kim performance last year, where she flawlessly executed some of Kim’s own dance moves.
