Darren Rizzi is not, in fact, The Rizzler.
Nope, he’s the new interim head coach of the New Orleans Saints after Dennis Allen was fired midseason. And if you’re here you might be wondering: who is this guy?
We’ll give you a quick breakdown: Rizzi is a 54-year-old New Jersey native who was the Saints’ special teams coordinator since 2019. Before that, he fulfilled that role for the Miami Dolphins.
He was a walk-on at Rhode Island in the late 1980s who then made his way around as a coach at places like Colgate, New Haven, Northeastern and Rutgers before reaching the NFL in 2010 with the Fins.
He has two daughters and five sons. His son Christian Rizzi is a long-snapper for the Texas Longhorns.
