For fans of the Boston Celtics who want to know a bit more about their new deep reserve point guard Dalano Banton, Spotrac’s Keith Smith recently wrote up a mini-profile of the former Toronto Raptors floor general. “Banton is huge for the point guard position, as he stands 6-foot-9,” relates Smith.
“His statistical profile isn’t going to jump out at anyone, especially from last season,” continues the Spotrac analyst. “But Banton can play. He needs to shoot the ball more consistently to make it as a rotation player, but the rest of his game is pretty solid. His G League numbers, albeit only over 21 total games, show how solid Banton is all-around.”
“That’s worth taking a shot on for your third point guard, with some upside,” he concludes, and we would have to agree.

While he was brought on to play at the NBA level for Boston, don’t be surprised if he continues with some stints with the Maine Red Claws to continue getting in development reps at that level.
There, he has averaged 20.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals per game while shooting a promising 39.3% from deep with the Raptors 305 in 2022-23.
