Daisy Edgar-Jones has quickly become a darling of red carpets and other events, after capturing our hearts and minds on screen. From her breakout role in Normal People and leading role in horror-comedy flick, Fresh, to Where The Crawdads Sing and blockbuster Twisters, her name is on everyone’s lips. So, it’s no surprise that many people want to know if Daisy Edgar-Jones has a boyfriend.
Here’s what we know about her relationship with Ben Seed, as well as her dating history.
Ben Seed (2023 – present)
Daisy Edgar-Jones and Ben Seed made their relationship public in September 2023, although sources told the Daily Mail UK that they had already been dating for months.
Seed, a photographer who goes by the name ‘Pip’, was previously the boyfriend of actress Anya Taylor-Joy until 2021. His work has been featured in Vogue and campaigns for the likes of Prada, Bulgari and Dior.
Pip’s Instagram also has an impressive range of photographs, including shots of Paul Mescal, Andrew Scott, Milly Alcock and even Daisy Edgar-Jones back in June 2023.
More recently, Ben Seed has shared how big a supporter he is of his girlfriend. When Twisters was released, he shared a collection of photos of Daisy Edgar-Jones (including one of the happy couple), with a very sweet caption.
“Couldn’t be more proud of this one and everything she’s achieved. The cast & crew of @twistersmovie have put on a wild show, so do yourself a favour and go see it on the biggest screen you can. Bravo @daisyedgarjones @glenpowell @anthonyramosofficial.”
While the couple aren’t afraid to show some affection in public, there’s also a level of privacy to their relationship, with only a few details and glimpses over the past few months. However, the UK Daily Mail did spot them together at Glastonbury Festival looking very loved up as they walked together with their arms around each other.
In February 2024, the couple looked very glamorous when they attended the BAFTA Awards together.
When news of the relationship was first confirmed, one source also told The Sun that Daisy Edgar-Jones was “on cloud nine” with her boyfriend, stating: “There’s a real spark there and they are excited about finding each other.”
Edgar-Jones has also been spotted out and about in London (or at events) with her boyfriend, but doesn’t typically share too much in interviews, preferring to focus on work rather than her private life (as is her right).
This approach is also similar to how the actress has adjusted to fame, something which she spoke about when she graced the cover of marie claire’s August 2022 issue.
Who has Daisy Edgar-Jones dated before?
Not much is known of her boyfriends before she came to fame in 2020, but we do know a bit about her boyfriend around the time Normal People was filming and released.
Tom Varey (2018-2020)
When Daisy Edgar-Jones shot to fame, she had one known boyfriend, actor Tom Varey. The pair met in 2018 while co-starring in the limited series Pond Life, which was a four-part period drama set in sixties. While Varey’s character fell in love with someone else onscreen, offscreen there was undeniable chemistry between him and Jones.
Speaking to Elizabeth Day in 2020 on the How To Fail podcast, Edgar-Jones recounted the hilarious experience of Varey watching her sex scenes in Normal People.
“My boyfriend, actually, he was amazing because what a tricky thing to watch,” she shared.
“He loves the series, thank goodness, that’s something I’m very relieved about, but there was a moment in episode six where he was like, ‘This is a bit weird! Oh, this is weird!’ and we all had to acknowledge that it was a bit weird, and then it was fine!”
Then, during an interview with Harpers Bazaar UK, Jones revealed Varey’s romantic gesture that warmed her heart while filming Normal People and living in a Dublin-based apartment.
“My boyfriend came and helped me move in, and when I went out for a costume fitting, he bought me a load of frozen food from Tesco,” she recalled. “He filled the fridge with potato waffles and fish fingers, which does not seem that romantic, but genuinely that’s what I lived on for the whole four and a half months of filming. Every time I ate potato waffle, I thought of him, so yeah, probably that – and other things. That was really nice.”
The couple lived together in London during the 2020 lockdown, but decided to call it quits after two years together, apparently due to their hectic schedules.
“They got on really well during lockdown last year, but they’re both young and passionate about following their careers,” an insider told The Sun, adding that “Daisy has been inundated with opportunities and feels she has to put them first, Tom’s also really dedicated to his acting and wants the best for both of them.”
Who did Daisy Edgar-Jones date in 2021 and 2022?
There were no confirmed boyfriends for Daisy Edgar-Jones in 2021 or 2022, likely due to her overwhelmingly busy schedule with filming, photoshoots and everything in-between.
That being said, given her private nature, it’s possible she could have just kept her romances on the downlow. Or perhaps, like in many relationships, simply doesn’t want to publicly talk about them now.
Did Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal date?
At different times, Daisy Edgar-Jones was rumoured to be dating her male co-stars Paul Mescal and Sebastian Stan. While she did share amazing onscreen chemistry with them both, these claims were unfounded. But she is still good friends with them after filming.
Mescal became one of her closest friends after filming Normal People, and she even attended the 2022 Met Gala with him and his then-partner Phoebe Bridgers.
She’s also said he is one of her “lifetime best friends”, in a recent interview with Variety.
“He’s an incredibly grounded person and I am too, I think, so it’s nice to be able to have those touchstones and those people you can laugh about it with and be lighthearted with. We met when I was 20 and Paul was 22; I’m so excited to see where we’ll be at 32, 42, and what life will bring us,” she said.
But these rumours are in the past now, with Daisy Edgar-Jones appearing very happy with boyfriend Ben Seed in 2024.
