Coronation Street sees another recognisable guest star this evening (February 10) as Gavin and Stacey legend, Steve Meo aka Owain Hughes appears on the cobbles as businessman, Rufus Donahue.
The Welshman is appearing as a character, with a gruff London accent, doing deals with Underworld staff Sarah Louise Barlow, Michael Bailey and Stephen Reid.
Steven, who once starred in a Direct Line ad campaign opposite Harvey Keitel, is iconic for the Gavin and Stacey character, Owain Hughes, who appeared in Gavin's workplace in the BBC comedy series. His name was seemingly a never-explained joke.
In Series three, Gavin (Mathew Horne) meets a coworker named "Owain Hughes". When Owain states his name, he then says "And before you ask, no I don't".
Steve looks pretty different, well, it has been more than a decade since he played Owain, but he has been busy since filming his well-remembered cameo in the Barry-set comedy.
The 45-year-old from Swansea is also known for his roles in High Hopes, Belonging and, two years ago he was in ITV real-life drama, The Pembrokeshire Murders as DI Lynne Harries. Steve has also been in Code 404, Doctors, Casualty and loads more.
The actor posted on his Twitter about his Weatherfield debut and it looks like he'll be sticking around for a few episodes as underwear businessman who's entered into an 'omnishambles' of a situation at Coronation Street knicker factory, Underworld.
