A moment that looked casual at first quickly turned into a big talking point in the League of Legends community. Brazilian streamer Baiano is facing backlash after his interaction with Gen.G star Jung “Chovy” Ji-hoon during the First Stand 2026 Group Stage. What seemed like a light interview after Gen.G’s win over JDG ended up creating confusion, criticism, and debate online.
The problem began when Baiano conducted an interview with Chovy through his action of placing a bucket of popcorn which displayed the Gen.G logo between them on March 17 2026. The situation seemed innocent to people who lived outside Brazil. The Brazilian gaming community considers popcorn to have a precise meaning which exists within their cultural traditions. It is linked to the slang “pipoqueiro,” which is used to describe a player who struggles under pressure. Because of that, many viewers felt the gesture was disrespectful, especially in that setting.
