Singer Asake, who also goes by the name of Mr Money, had been preparing to hit the stage at the O2 Academy in Brixton on Thursday when the concert descended into chaos.
The internationally successful musician has been performing to fans on his first UK tour, previously performing in Birmingham and Manchester days before disaster struck in London.
On Thursday night, Asake, 27, had been set to perform to a sold-out crowd at the South London venue but the show was brought to a halt.
Police were called to the venue at 9.35pm on Thursday following reports a large number of people were trying to gain access without tickets, leaving eight people in hospital with four in a critical condition.
No arrests have been made.
Singer Ahmed Ololade, is known professionally as Asake, paying homage to his mum as it is her first name.
The Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter had previously studied Theatre & Performing Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state, in southwestern Nigeria.
Despite releasing music since 2018, the star went on to further his career in 2020 after the release of his single Mr Money, while a remix with Zlatan and Peruzzi went on to be released.
However, Asake's break came in 2020 with the release of his smash hit single Lady.
Two years later, he went on to sign for YBNL Records after the label boss Olamide spotted him in February earlier this year.
In the same month, the hitmaker released his debut EP, featuring his hit Omo Ope, before going on to release Sungba which was later remixed by fellow Nigerian star Burna Boy.
Having achieved international success following the release of his EP, his debut album, Mr Money With the Vibe was released on September 8, spawning the singles Terminator and Peace Be Unto You.
The record went on to top the charts in Nigeria, as well as breaking records across the globe after landing at Number 66 on the US Billboard 200 and Number 96 on the Canadian Albums Chart.
Earlier this year, he announced his debut UK tour to support his album, with shows kicking off on December 3 in Birmingham before concluding on December 15 after three shows at the O2 Academy Brixton.
Asake's ride across the UK comes hot off the heels of his American tour which started on September 22 before concluding on November 9 at the Patapsco Arena in Baltimore.
His sold-out show at the Brixton O2 on Thursday has left four people fighting for their lives as people stormed the doors of the venue after the show was called off due to health concerns.
Ahead of the disastrous show, he had been booed by his crowd in Birmingham on December 3 after arriving to the stage at Forum Birmingham at 11pm.
Having arrived on stage hours after his set time, he blamed the delay on the concert promoters before thanking fans for their "patience and understanding".
While appearing to be in a kind mood, the Afroboeats star was seen handing out 100 dollar bills to those who secured a position on the barrier in front of the stage.
