From working for publications like The Guardian, Vogue and Vice to gaining nearly two million followers on her YouTube channel, Amelia Dimoldenberg has done it all. But now everyone knows her name, so who is she?
The 28-year-old was born and raised in the City of Westminster, London, where her father, Paul Dimoldenberg, is a Labour Party member. Remaining in the capital, Amelia went to Central St Martins, part of the University of Arts London, to study a fashion communication degree.
Despite getting a degree, her greatest success has come from the side project she created while still studying. Her YouTube channel, @AmeliaDimoldenberg, is home to the renowned Chicken Shop Dates. In the show, she sits down with celebrities and personalities for ‘dates’ in different chicken shops.
Most recently, she interviewed Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann at Nabzy's in Norris Green for the series. The video racked up more than 1.5m views.
Since starting her channel in 2014, Amelia has interviewed the likes of YouTube legend KSI and music sensation Aitch, who she was rumoured to be dating last year, along with other stars including Ed Sheeran and Matty Healy from The 1975. In the nine years since starting her channel, Amelia has amassed 1.61 million subscribers on the channel, 1.1 million followers on her Instagram and 2.1 million followers on her TikTok page. Last year she was named Creator of the Year at Glamour’s Women of the Year awards 2022.
Part of Amelia’s success can be put down to her dry humour, sarcasm and her ability to make situations intentionally awkward - especially in her Chicken Shop Date videos. With her social media and YouTube channel finding success she has been able to move on to bigger and better adventures.
Amelia has previously interviewed celebrities at red carpet events, including actor Andrew Garfield, and TV presenter Louis Theroux at the GQ Men of the Year awards last November.
Earlier this month, she starred in the New Year’s episode of the comedy game show Taskmaster, a show she claims to have watched and “loved for so long.” Along with the likes of Bristol star Carol Vorderman, Radio 1 DJ Greg James, ex-Olympian Mo Farah and Rebecca Lucy Taylor (music star Self-Esteem), Amelia had people laughing at her hilarious antics throughout the episode.
